Novice Red Opens Up Play Downs with a Win
The Red Wolves took the first game of their semi-final series versus Hamilton White 3-0.

The Wolves started the game fast and hard but failed to solve the stellar play of the Hamilton White keepers as they kept the Wolves off the score sheet for over 19 minutes.  In the last minute of the second period, Lucas P. and Colten T. cycled the puck down low that resulted in Colten T. find Matty B. all alone in the slot.  Matty B. made a quick deke and then jammed home the puck past the stingy Hamilton goalie to give the Wolves the lead heading into the third.

In the early going of the third, Wyatt M. would stretch the lead to 2-0 with a blast from the slot.  The play would then be back and forth as the Wolves once again took unnecessary penalties in the third, but the Wolves denied Hamilton on several occasions led by tough play by the entire Wolves defence.  Ryder H. would add an empty net goal with seconds remaining to finish the game.

Overall, the Wolves worked hard, but need to play smarter and trust each other in upcoming games if they want success.  Matty B. received the “sweet hands” for his move on the first goal and Matthew P. received the lunch pail for smart pinches and moving the puck up the ice quickly.  Wyatt M. took the hard hat for smart play in supporting his wingers and defence throughout the game and being a constant threat on offence.

The Wolves head to Parkdale Arena on Saturday for game 2 of the series.
