Novice Red Wolves place win Diamond Consolation at CUJO to rank 7th out of 32 teams.
The Wolves headed to Newmarket for the prestigious CUJO Tyke Tournament last weekend for five games.
In Game One of the tournament on Friday, the Wolves drew a strong Whitby team. The Wolves played Whitby tough for over two periods, but eventually ran out of gas and took a 5-1 loss. Whitby would eventually go on to finish 2nd overall in the tournament.

In Game Two Friday afternoon, the Wolves scored early and often and overpowered an Ajax squad 11-3 to guarantee a spot in the top half of the tournament.
On Saturday, the Wolves did not match Friday's effort. In the morning game, the Wolves took on a familiar foe from Brantford. While the Wolves jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, Brantford would battle back to make the score 2-1 and the Wolves were lucky to escape with the win and secure diamond level playdowns.
In the Saturday afternoon game, the Wolves forwards struggled to solve the Belle River goalie, and a Belle River centre man gave the Wolves defence and goalies fits. In a back and forth game that say the Wolves up 5-3 at one, somehow Belle River found a way to knot the game at 5-5 to force overtime. Belle River would eventually win 6-5 un OT and knock the Wolves into the Diamond Consolation.
On Sunday, the Wolves faced the host team Newmarket. The Wolves came out hard in the first period, but failed to capitalize. In the second, Newmarket began to take over and eventually took a 1-0 lead. The Wolves made some adjustments and quickly came back to tie the game 1-1. After some back and forth to start the third, the Wolves finally took the lead and added an empty net goal to secure the Consolation title.
The Wolves face a much improved Hamilton Red squad this Saturday in league play.
