Blue Puck Special for Novice Red!
After a few tough weeks in Tier 2 league play, Novice Red hit the road for tournament play in Bradford to take out their frustrations against Tyke MD competition.
The Wolves biggest opponent would be the dreaded "blue" puck as they struggled to handle and shoot the bouncy 4 oz pucks as the notched a 3-1 win over Oakville, and a 3-0 win versus Milton. Friday night, the coaches hit the Barrie Canadian Tire and loaded up with a set of blue pucks for warm ups. The Wolves then tore into Dundas on Saturday for a 7-0 win, earning home team status for the finals. The Sunday morning championship was a rematch with Oakville. The Wolves would play their best game of the tournament with a quick start and an early first period goal. By the end of the second, the Wolves had stretched the score to 4-1 and added 2 more in the third to seal the 6-1 win and the Blue and Gold Classic Hockey Championship.
All players made excellent contributions this weekend from the goalies making key saves, the defence standing tall, and the forwards with relentless pressure. The Red Wolves wrap up Tier 2 exhibition league play next weekend against Burlington Red on Saturday and Waterloo White on Sunday.
