Schedule & Results, Major Peewee, 2013-2014, Select (Waterloo Minor Hockey)

We took a few minutes before the game to talk to the team about leadership. Every player on the Select team is a leader on their House League team and knows how to set the tone a make a difference. We saw the boys respond to that message during the game. 

We went out hard in the first period and took the play to Caledon creating a lot of pressure in the offensive zone. Caledon fought back and managed to score the 1st goal of the game just as the first period was coming to the close.
During the break we talked about the positives from the first period and the fact that the 2nd period is when a lot of games are won. In a sharp contrast to Friday we responded to the oppositions goal by stepping up our play and not only tying it up but taking a 3-2 lead by the end of the 2nd period.
The 3rd period started with a bit of a let up and Caledon tied it up but once again instead of giving up we stepped up and with 6:48 to go we took the lead once again. From then on it was an all out effort to keep Caledon out of our end. With about 3 minutes left we went to our 1-2-2 prevent and played smart hockey to close out the game and earn the win.
