CRA was founded in 1976 through the merger of Frank A. Rovers & Associates and Conestoga Engineering. Our reputation for strategic project management at environmentally impaired properties started with our leadership role on the Love Canal cleanup project in Niagara Falls, New York, in the late 1970s. This project led in part to the CERCLA Superfund program in the United States and gave CRA international recognition in the environmental field. Our emphasis on technical excellence and an entrepreneurial spirit accounted for much of our growth in the early years. With our roots in civil engineering and municipal infrastructure, we provided traditional full-service engineering design and construction oversight to many municipalities starting in the late 1970s.
