Wolves pull even at the Aud
The Minor Peewee Select team got a taste of the big leagues on Tuesday afternoon with a game against the Kitchener (Jr) Rangers at the Aud.  The goalies stole the spotlight on this day, with both teams looking for a hero to break the deadlock.  Cub reporter Marg has the full story...

Much anticipation awaited this mid-week game. Following the after-school rush getting to the “big ice” at the Kitchener Auditorium, the team settled into the fancy digs of Change Room No.12, while spectators enjoyed their choice of free seats.
The first shot of the game came less than a minute in, directly into Emmett’s glove.  This pressure in the Waterloo end continued throughout the first period, keeping Waterloo’s defence and goalie all very busy. With Ian sick today, the team was completed by James who stepped up under very short notice. First period ended with no score.

The second period saw more action in Kitchener’s end than the first. Midway through, we are penalized for our over-eagerness. (What’s the hand signal for that?) Still 0 – 0 after killing two minutes short-handed, and some great scoring opportunities to continue the pressure right to the buzzer.

The third started off with a breakaway, shut down quickly by Chris’s glove this time. Fans from both “K” and “W” were on the edge of their seats as the play continued. These teams appear to be very well matched and working very hard in both ends. With only 3:58 left, the K-Team gets lucky with a deflected puck that squeaks over the line. This first goal of the game makes it 1 to 0 for Kitchener. Time is ticking now, and not on our side. Even the spectators are sweating during this game. Twelve seconds left and Josh sends it in off a juicy rebound . We will happily take the tie 1 – 1 and look forward to playing Kitchener again for another great game!
