The Wolves kicked off November with their first tournament of the season in Owen Sound. They started with a 1-0 win and followed it with a strong victory where once again every line was contributing. In the semi finals they met the team they narrowly beat on the Friday an fell 2-0 to end their run.
The Wolves next went into a three game weekend that would decide if they made the AA or A loop for the remainder of the season. Perhaps inspired by their early tournament exit, perhaps wanting to show they belonged on the top half of the division, they faced down some top competition and took all three games to secure their AA spot for the remainder of the season. The strong weekend victories, including a solid game against the number one team showed that the boys could stand up with any team in the league if they play the full three periods.
The AA season kicked off over the next two weekends with three losses. With illness hitting the team we played all of those games without the full roster. But even in those losses several players stepped up and took a leadership role on the ice at various points, so even in losses we provided challenges for our opponents.
The month wrapped up in Newmarket in our second tournament of the season. The boys fought to a hard 3-2 loss Friday followed by a tie in game two creating the need for a decisive victory Saturday afternoon to move on. In their 3rd game they faced an undefeated Toronto team that played an excellent positional game and ended the boy's run early.
The boys now have a few tough weeks of practices and several games ahead as they prepare for the Christmas holiday tournament in Stratford.
