The early focus will be on skill development, team play, respect for team-mates and sports-man-like behaviour. During the season, the players may rotate through all of the positions and everyone will get equal playing time until the last 2 minutes. It is our plan to have set positions as early as possbile.
This is the first competitive hockey season for many of the players on our team. It is important to manage our expectations of those kids. This year is meant to start the development of the players and make them more competitive for future years. To ensure equitable development there may be times when the player rotation works opposite to our desire to win, but at this level, each player's development is more important that winning any individual game.
There will be typically 2-3 ice times per week practices or games.
