2024-25 Wolves U14 Select Tryouts.Welcome. Please read this article if you are interested in trying out for the U14 Select team.
My name is Andy Hamilton, I will be the head coach of the U14 Select team this year. I’m looking forward to leading the team this year with a focus on creating a strong culture of player development and enjoyment of the game.
Here are some details for the tryouts and season.
Tryout times are:
Sept 28
8pm-9
RIM Park (Pillers)
Sept 29
6pm-7
Albert McCormick (East Pad)
Registration
- All players MUST be registered for and paid with Waterloo Minor Hockey ahead of the tryout, otherwise the player CANNOT go on the ice.
The Tryout Process, Releases and Roster Posting
- Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the first tryout to sign-in at the desk and receive your practice jersey. After the first tryout, please keep the jersey with you as you will be wearing the same jersey for our scrimmage on the 29th. The jerseys are to be handed back after the scrimmage.
- Releases will not occur until after the scrimmage on the 29th. The final roster will be posted here on the WMHA U14 Select page. We will do our best to post as quickly as possible, however, the team roster will not be posted earlier than 6am on September 30th.
- The tryout process will include independent evaluators. Please note there are no guarantees on making this team. A player who played on the U13 Select team last year is not guaranteed a spot on the U14 team this year. We are looking for skilled, hardworking players who will fit within the culture we are creating.
- Please know the selection process is taken very seriously. We appreciate the challenges tryouts put on players and their parents. We understand it can be a stressful process. We are committed to running a fair tryout, thank you for understanding.
Season At A Glance
- In addition to the WMHA requirement to play for one of the House League teams, we expect the Select team to be on the ice an additional two times per week, most weeks. The expectation is that players on this team will be at every ice time / team function, unless there are special circumstances such as illness.
Because we have not been guaranteed our schedule yet, we cannot book tournament dates. We do plan, however, to book up to two tournaments throughout the season, in addition to the Alliance Tournament in early April.
