Major Peewee Select 2019/2020
Hello and welcome to the 2019-2020 hockey season!  My name is Matt Buchwald and I will be coaching the Major Peewee Select team this year.  Our goal for the team is to have fun while we develop hockey skills both as individual players and together as a team.  The information below is meant to provide details for the upcoming season and to guide you through the tryout process.

In addition to the house league schedule, the select team will have approximately 16 practices, play 20 exhibition games with local select teams, and attend 3 tournaments during the season.   We are planning on the following tournament weekends:

December 6-8, 2019
January 10-12, 202
April 2-5, 2020

Our allotted ice time this season is Saturdays at 7pm at Albert McCormick.  The calendar will be revised throughout the season as practices are added and exhibition games are scheduled with other teams.  Additional practices will be booked as ice times become available.  Please see the WMHA web site under the House League tab for the select guidelines and the select fees.  Included in the select fee is all our ice time for the season.  Costs for tournaments, and team events/items will be added to the fee and presented at the parent meeting.

Please see the team calendar for tryout dates and times.  Please arrive early to sign in and have your player ready for the ice 10 minutes prior to our scheduled time.  We will be going over the drills with the players before we go on.

At the tryouts, we will be evaluating skating, puck handling, shooting, effort, and team play.  Shortly after each tryout ice time, a list of players who are invited back for the next tryout session will be listed on the team website.  If your player’s name/ number is not on the list, they have been released for the remainder of the tryouts and we wish them all the best with their house league season.

We will be choosing 2 goalies, 15 skaters, and 2-3 alternate players who will be contacted separately after the tryouts.  The alternates will be invited to all the practices and will replace rostered players who are unavailable to attend games.  Once the select team has been chosen, there will be a parent meeting scheduled to discuss the upcoming season.

If you have any questions regarding the tryout process or the season ahead, please send me an email through the link on the select coaches page at:
