Our "18th Man"
This year the Wolves decided to
add an “18th Man” to our team.
The 18th Man Project (https://one4anotherintl.ca/18th-man/) is a charity that serves children with surgical needs in Uganda. Through some fundraising we raised enough to sponsor an 11 year old boy, named Asumati. He was born with a left clubfoot that had never been treated.
The treatment for his condition is as follows:
• Casts: successive casts to stretch the ankle and soft tissues before surgery (3-4 weeks)
• Surgery: to reconstruct the ankle joint and lengthen the Achilles tendon
• Casts: while the foot heals in the proper position (4-8 weeks)
• Braces: which he’ll wear for at least a year to prevent recurrence
In December, Asumati started the process. On January 8th, he had the surgery and is now recovering!
Welcome to the team, Asumati!
