First Half of October
After returning from a successful tournament in Belleville, the Wolves have been putting a lot of effort into their practices.

It was time to put all the practice skills to the test.

The first game of October was against the St. Catharines Hurricanes.  The Wolves outshot the Canes, 9-1 in the first period and had a 1-0 lead to show for it.  The Wolves continued to pressure in the second and secured a 4-1 lead.  In the third period, Waterloo put another 20 shots on net and were rewarded with 2 more goals.  The final score was 6-3 for the Wolves.

The following weekend, Hamilton Huskies - White were in town.  Hamilton has a strong team that went undefeated in the regular season and the Alliance East Central Championship last year, before eventually losing in the Alliance Championship.  The Wolves showed up to the rink ready for a tough battle.  In the first period, the Wolves were outshot 6-2, but game remained tied at 0.  The shots in the second were 9-7 for the Huskies, but with some amazing goaltending the score remained at 0-0.  The Huskies eventually scored and followed up with a second to take a 2-0 lead.  With just under 5 minutes left, the Wolves took a tripping penalty.  The "never give up" attitude of the young Wolves paid off and with only 20 seconds left in the penalty they scored a short handed goal to bring the game within 1.  The remainder of the penalty was killed off and 14 seconds later, Waterloo scored on a shot from the point to tie the game.  The last couple of minutes were scoreless and the game finished with a 2-2 tie.

On Sunday, the Wolves headed to Brantford to face off against the 99ers who hadn't lost in the first 4 starts of their season.  The first period showed that these teams are very evenly matched and the game remained scoreless at the end of one.  The 99ers were first on the board in the second, but the Wolves answered with a goal of their own 2 minutes later.  Brantford jumped ahead with a second goal and the period ended at 2-1.  The Wolves came out flying in the third and scored twice in the first 2 and a half minutes to take the lead for the first time in the game.  Brantford got a good bounce that handcuffed the Wolves tender and the game was tied again.  With 5 minutes left in the game, the Wolves scored to put the pressure on the 99ers.  Brantford managed to tie up the game with just under 2 minutes left and the final score was 4-4.

Keep up the great work, Wolves!!
