1st Period: ππ£ Reasons for Coaching – The "Why" Behind the Whistle? π₯
Why did you become a hockey coach?
I've had coaches make Hockey the best thing to ever happen to me, and I've had coaches make Hockey the worst thing that's ever happened to me. Hockey needs more of the former and much much less of the latter.
I want to leave an impact on kids that makes them excited to go to the rink to have a great time, rather than dread it like some unfortunately do. Even if that's only 17 kids or so I leave an impact on, that's enough for me.
What's your Coaching Philosophy/Approach?
Players need to understand the Why and the purpose of each and everything they're told. They often get told what to do throughout their lives without knowing the long-term goal, and it makes them disengaged. If they understand why and see the end result of the teachings, they'll want to learn and improve. Making them want to learn is often the difference between a good coach, and a great one in my opinion.

Overtime: Final Buzzerππ
What's one piece of advice you'd give your players?
Learn one thing every time you hit the ice. Whether it's a game or practice, whether it went great or terribly, pull one thing you need to learn/improve on that you found throughout that ice time.
