Directors Job Descriptions (Waterloo Minor Hockey)

Board of Directors

The affairs of the Corporation shall be managed by a fourteen (14) member Board of Directors, each of whom has a voting membership. The Board shall be comprised of the following:

 

President

• shall, when present, preside at meetings of the Board of Directors and at General Meetings;
• is charged with the general management and supervision of the affairs and operations of the Corporation;
• is an ex-officio voting member of all committees of the Corporation excluding Grievance and Appeals Committee;
• shall be one of the signing Directors of the Corporation; and
• shall perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Past President

• shall hold such position ex-officio;
• act as chair of the Grievance and Appeals Committee, overseeing the grievance and appeals procedures to ensure that they are being adhered to at all levels of appeal; and
• shall perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Vice-President

• during the absence of the President, shall have and exercise all of the powers of the President;
• shall be one of the signing Directors of the Corporation;
• is an ex-officio voting member of all committees of the Corporation excluding Grievance and Appeals Committee;
• shall be responsible for communications and public relations of the Corporation;
• shall act as Chair of Player & Coach Development committee;
• shall act as the Corporation’s liaison with the Waterloo Minor Hockey Officials;
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of AAA, AA & A

• shall oversee the operation of all AAA, AA & A Rep Teams for the Corporation;
• shall recommend to the Board, appointment of AAA, AA & A Rep Team Convenors for each level of Hockey;
• shall have the authority to enforce the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation as they pertain to the operation of AAA, AA & A Rep Teams; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Minor Development

• shall oversee the operation of the Minor Development Rep Teams for the Corporation;
• shall recommend to the Board, appointment of Minor Development Rep Team Convenors;
• shall have the authority to enforce the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation as they pertain to the operation of Minor Development Rep Teams;
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Recreational Hockey – Initiation Division

• shall oversee the operation of Recreational Hockey for Fundamentals to Tyke for the Corporation;
• shall recommend to the Board, appointment of Recreational Convenors for each division from Fundamentals to Tyke;
• shall have the authority to enforce the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation as they pertain to the operation of Recreational Hockey; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Recreational Hockey – Junior Division

• shall oversee the operation of Recreational Hockey for Novice to Peewee for the Corporation;
• shall recommend to the Board, appointment of Recreational Convenors for each division from Novice to Peewee;
• shall have the authority to enforce the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation as they pertain to the operation of Recreational Hockey; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Recreational Hockey – Senior Division

• shall oversee the operation of Recreational Hockey at Minor Bantam to Juvenile for the Corporation;
• shall recommend to the Board, appointment of Recreational Convenors for each division from Minor Bantam to Juvenile;
• shall have the authority to enforce the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation as they pertain to the operation of Recreational Hockey; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Communications

• shall serve as Chair of the Communications Committee;
• shall be responsible for maintaining proper and effective access to the Corporation’s news, information, and activities to members and the general public; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Fundraising

• ensure that team based fundraising is in accordance with the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation;
• host fundraising events; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Parent Concerns - Rep Hockey

• shall have the responsibility of representing parents' interest and concerns to the Board;
• shall assist parents, where requested, to interpret the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation;
• shall have membership on the Representative League Management Committee;
• shall assist in the recruitment of new volunteers; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Parent Concerns - Rec Hockey

• shall have the responsibility of representing the interest and concerns of the Recreational League parents to the Board;
• shall assist Parents, where requested, to interpret the Policies and Procedures of the Corporation;
• shall have membership on the Recreational League Management Committee;
• shall assist in the recruitment of new volunteers; and
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Tournaments & Special Events

• shall serve as Chair of the Tournaments & Special Events Committee;
• ensure that Waterloo-sponsored tournaments are well organized and run smoothly;
• supervise support duties including but not limited to arranging league/team banquets, and conduct equipment sales;
• recommend to the Board the expenditure of monies raised from the above activities including but not limited to providing hockey equipment for players qualifying for financial assistance;
• supervise support duties for Rec. League Christmas Tournament and Championship weekend when required;
• communicate with a parent on each team to co-ordinate parental activities.
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.

Director of Sponsorship

• shall secure and keep a detailed record of the Sponsors for all Representative and Recreational League teams;
• shall ensure that Sponsors are provided with information pertaining to sponsored team, including communication of the Corporation's appreciation for the Sponsors' support;
• perform such other duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be prescribed by the Board of Directors.
