Welcome to U16 House League Families
As we get set to start the 2024-25 hockey season, what follows is some important start-up information for U16 (2009) House League players.

Several orders of business today:

1.       Evaluations – time change

Times and dates for ALL players are as follows:

Friday, September 13th , 7:30pm – 9pm at RIM Optimist

Sunday September 15th, 5:30pm – 7pm at RIM Lions

THIS IS A CHANGE FROM WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY POSTED ON THIS WEBSITE.

Please arrive about 30 minutes before ice time to register and pick up your evaluation jersey.

2.       Season Details

The U16 age group generally has very few or no practices. Instead, teams play one or two games per week. The Tri-City Hockey League (TCHL) schedule is still being worked out but it is likely that Waterloo home games will be played on Wednesday nights at the WREC.

Under TCHL rules, teams will be allowed one tournament before Christmas and one after. Both Select and House League teams will need to schedule their tournaments during prescribed black-out dates when TCHL games will not be played. Those dates will be available shortly.

The TCHL season is expected to begin in early October. Prior to the TCHL season start, we in Waterloo will have some intra-squad games to test various player combinations to ensure we have balanced teams.

Select team tryouts will take place on Friday, September 27th and Sunday, September 29th. There will be a new coaching staff this year and we hope to see many new faces at the tryouts! More information will be provided closer to the date of tryouts.

       Final Thought:

The WMHA says: “Our program emphasizes personal growth, skill improvement, and love of the game rather than a win-at-all-costs mentality.”

This is the best of hockey.

Ø  Where we make every effort to let kids play with their friends (send me your (reciprocal) friend requests).

Ø  Where we offer opportunities to grow in and improve our game (through new skill sessions offered at no extra cost for both skaters and goalies).

Ø  Where families spend time together on and off the ice (let me know if you can help as a coach or trainer or manager of a team).

Ø  Where the best, most memorable games are ones where we laughed hard on the ice and in the stands.

Here’s to a season filled with laughter and friendship and exciting moments on the ice!
