Next Steps...
Sharing next steps in the lead up to the beginning of our Tri-City
Hockey League (TCHL)!
1. The season opens on the weekend of October 5th and 6th .
2. Over the next day, we will finalize the rosters and you should hear from your coaches on Tuesday night. We have ice time on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday of this week. We are still looking to fill a few coaching positions. Contact me if you can help out.
3. Please keep an eye on the league schedule until you have been given your team’s name. The calendar has changed and will continue to change until the TCHL schedule is fully worked out, in a few weeks. Most recently, our ice times on Friday moved to Sunday to address a conflict with the Select tryout schedule.
4. Speaking of Select…please encourage your son to come out to Select tryouts this weekend!
This year, the WMHA is thrilled to have a group of young, energetic, creative ex-hockey players stepping forward to coach the U16 team. New to the WMHA, these coaches currently attend Laurier University and have extensive hockey experience, including the Head Coach’s three years as a Siskin!
WMHA is looking forward to having this new and youthful energy in the Select program this year. The coaching staff is very excited to meet the boys. Their philosophy is admirable and reflects the values of Waterloo Minor Hockey. In their letter of introduction, they say:
We believe that hockey is more than just a game—it’s a way to teach responsibility, collaboration, and how to handle both victory and defeat with grace. As a coaching team, we’re looking forward to working with the players, creating a positive atmosphere, and helping everyone grow both as athletes and individuals.
Tryouts run Friday 8:30-9:30PM at RIM (Optimists) and Sunday 6:00-7:00PM at RIM (Lions).
