Why did you become a hockey coach?
A Select team needed a coach 4 years ago so I stepped up to do my part. Glad I did as I love coaching.
What's your Coaching Philosophy/Approach?
I focus on 3 main thing in my approach: 1) helping youth develop as players on ice and as good community citizens off the ice; 2) while playing, DIG (Details, Intensity, Grit); and 3) to Love the game of hockey so they want to keep playing for the rest of their life.

Fishing, Hunting and spending time at my cottage with my boys.

What's one piece of advice you'd give your players?
Try your best and don’t be afraid to fail; failure can help build resilience which is key to future success.
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
I am a Professor and Researcher at the University of Waterloo and I lead the world’s largest research study focused on youth health. I am also a 2-time cancer survivor and current cancer patient yet again, so I know a lot about resilience.

From Select to AAA to Jr., finished with Senior Hockey and still playing men's league

Why did you become a hockey coach?
I became a Coach as I've had hundreds of coaches throughout my playing experience and I have 5 that I absolutely loved and would buy into anything they taught me.....I want to be one of those 5 to the next generation of hockey players.
What's your Coaching Philosophy/Approach?
Preach Team and Teach Development.

Favourite NHL Team/Player? The most entertaining ones/Crosby. McDavid....past but I still watched: Mario Lemieux, Gretzky....past before my time: Murph Chamberlin

Everything I have to offer even if its how to do the Michigan ....
Favorite drill:
More of a favorite philosophy for drills which is treat drills like a game and everything in hockey is done with your legs.
