Minor Bantam White Weekend Update
It was a busy weekend for the Wolves as they played a home and away game aiming to increase their standings and in the end, coming out on the winning side for both.

Saturday evening's battle saw our Wolves faced up against the St. Catherines Hurricanes in what would be a whirlwind, back and forth game over the blue line. Waterloo was missing #9 Rudolph, causing our defence to alter their pairings and adjust their play. However, with a full forward lineup the Wolves should have been poised for a solid victory. As they started the first period the players appeared to be a little slow, possibly suffering from the after effects of an early turkey dinner. As this wore off, and the boys ramped up, the goals began to materialize mid-way through the first period. The trio of Hancock, Anderson and Williams worked their magic to put in three goals before the end of the first. The second period saw much the same as Miller #3, Reesor #68 and Mervyn #10 made several attempts at the net with quick shots and battles for the loose puck in front. Many shots were taken on the net but the Hurricanes' goalie kept them in it with some good glove saves. In our own end, #31 B. McLeod was solid in net. Making the necessary saves to earn a shut out. #77 O. McLeod and #14 Jespersen played a great game of defence, chasing down the player and puck to keep the Hurricanes from having a chance to shoot. In the end, Anderson #66 put in his third of the game, towards the end of the second period, resulting in a final score of 4-0 for Waterloo. In the post game chat, the coaches asked for more drive right from the initial puck drop, and well....
Sunday's game in London against the North London Nationals saw a completely different squad. In fact, the first goal was scored before fans even had a chance to settle into their seats, which set the tone for the game. London barely cleared their zone during the first period as the Wolves played aggressive hockey. Our forwards experimented with some different lineups, which could have been the result of a few missing defensive players, but this did not hold Waterloo back. All three periods of play saw lots of passing. Forwards were passing back to the defence for more 'from the point' shots, allowing our defence to find the score sheet. This was a scrappy game in the offensive zone as #22 Dierickse and #10 Mervyn kept the puck alive and in scoring range. #68 Reesor and #2 Hancock made several rushes on the net putting pressure on the London goalie which likely was one of the main reasons for their goalie change. The Wolves played smart hockey with short shifts allowing them to keep a consistent energy level and pace from start to finish. As mentioned the D made it to the score sheet with some amazing passes for the assist but also with some sweet looks and shots on net for the goal. #5 Tiegs with a hard low shot and #44 Dupuis-Bissonnette with a patient shot in. Anderson #66 has been on fire these past few games with 3 goals Saturday and 4 during Sunday's match up. Equally as strong, #7 Williams had a hat trick Sunday evening to round out the score with an even 10-1 for the Wolves. Waterloo's goalie #33 Hulka made his saves look simple with quick grabs and smothering the rebound. An impressive game considering Waterloo was without two defence and one forward. Well done Wolves and congratulations on a successful weekend.
