MD - Minor Peewee Black vs North London Nationals
Waterloo took the second game of a double header on the chin as the London Nationals won a squeaker 4 - 3.
The team skated much harder during the second game of the day. They were jumping on the loose pucks and aggressively fore checking their opponents. London opened the scoring mid way through the period. Waterloo stormed back with under two minutes to play. They kept the play deep in London's zone. Jake Millington picked up the loose puck behind the net and banked a pass to Quade Willson. Quade let a low screamer loose on the net. The puck found its way over to Matthew Thomas who buried the juicy puck knotting the score at one a piece.
Waterloo took the lead early in the second. Ethan Day sprung Cam McDonald and Lukas Babensee up the ice. Cam dished the puck over to Lukas. Lukas faked the pass out front and waltzed in all alone to tuck the puck down low. London came back with a pair of goals to take the lead after two periods.
The boys found themselves down two men in the third. They did not allow any shots on net during the penalty kill. The defense kept London 0 fo 5 on power plays in the game. The team stepped up at the right time. With three minutes to play in the game Quade pinched in and picked the puck up along the boards. The pass to Nathan Edwards, high in the slot, went through two defender's legs. Nathan dropped the puck back to Luke Young at the point. No one saw the rocket as the puck smashed the back of the mesh. The coaches pulled the goalie with two minutes left in the game. Waterloo kept the pressure on London with a few glorious attempts. Time was not favourable to the wolves as time ran out.
Better game boys. You worked very hard. Keep up the good fight.
