Waterloo Black vs Brantford 99ers
A well earned 4-0 win today for Waterloo as they took on the Brantford 99ers. It was a busy week for the team as they took advantage of available ice time to practice their power play situations as well as their passing and positioning. And this practice paid off with a victory today.
The coaches had a clear vision of how they wanted the players to perform today. The message in the dressing room was clear; put your practice into play. During the first period, Waterloo chased down the puck well. The forwards were moving the puck around, including some well timed passes to the defence at the blue line. There was some amazing hustle as players back checked to remove the scoring opportunity from Brantford as well as dumped and chased the puck to create scoring chances for Waterloo. Bosomworth, #19, earned the first goal for Waterloo and then was quick to put in a second. Beckner, #4, had to earn his goal. With many shot attempts, several that hit the crossbar and one the post, Beckner finally found the net to earn the third goal of the game. In the second half of the third period Jyrkama, #10, impressed the fans with a sharp, crisp shot that gave the Wolves their 4-0 lead. In net for Waterloo, #31 Bernier, was outstanding. With some well timed and spectacular saves, he kept the team in the game and earned a well deserved shut out.
Honourable mention goes out to the coaches today who were doing double duty. Well done Coaches McMurry and Williams for finding those coachable moments while also on door detail for line changes. You kept the team together and focused.
Congratulations team!
