Martin, Passmore Selected in NHL Draft
Wolves alumni Brady Martin and Evan Passmore were selected in this weekend's NHL Draft!
Two Wolves alumni heard their names called by NHL clubs this weekend as part of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
Brady Martin (U16 AAA '22-'23), who was touted as a first round selection all year long, was selected 5th overall by the Nashville Predators on Friday night. Martin elected not to attend the Draft in Los Angeles, but instead watch with family and friends at his farm in Elora, ON.
Martin, who was selected 3rd overall in the 2023 OHL Draft by the Soo Greyhounds, played in 57 games this year and scored 33 goals, tallied 39 assists and amassed 79 points en route to his top five selection. He is the highest drafted Waterloo alumni in both the OHL and NHL Drafts.
Evan Passmore (U16 AAA '21-'22 / U18 AAA '22-'23) heard his name called by the New York Rangers in the 6th round, 171st overall. The towering 6'5" defenceman finished his second full year with the Barrie Colts of the OHL, playing in 62 games and collected 11 points. The Elmira, ON native brings size, physicality and toughness to the Rangers.
This marks the second time in three years that at least two Wolves alumni were selected in the NHL Draft, with Beau Akey and Ethan Hay getting selected in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Congratulations to both Brady and Evan on their incredible accomplishments! The hard work and dedication in a Wolves jersey paid off. WMHA is excited to watch your careers develop!
