Four Wolves Team Win ALLIANCE Championships
We had an incredible weekend of hockey here in Waterloo, as FOUR teams took home ALLIANCE Championships!
In just two days, four Wolves teams won the ALLIANCE Championship for the respective division.
We'll start on Saturday, when the U18 AA Wolves beat the London Jr. Knights Green in the fifth and deciding game at Albert McCormick. The teams were tied up at four points a piece, with each team having a win, a loss and two ties. They won the game 4-2 and were crowned champions. They now move on to the U18 AA OHF Championships taking place in Milton starting April 18.
In the U12 AAA ALLIANCE Championship Series, the U12 AAA Wolves were also in a winner-take-all fifth game against the Sarnia-Lambton Jr. Sting. After trading wins in the first four games, Game 5 went to overtime and the Wolves scored to clinch the title. This capped off an amazing season for this team, finishing the season with an overall record of 37-3-3.
The U14 BB Wolves competed at the ALLIANCE Championships in Brantford this weekend. They finished the round robin with a 2-0-2 record, qualifying for the semi-final. They beat the Lambeth Lancers 3-1, then beat the top-seeded Burlington Bulldogs Red 2-1 in the final.
We had an all-Waterloo final in the U16 BB Tier 1 division, with our Gold and White teams meeting up in the championship. White clinched a spot in the final thanks to a 2-0-1 round robin record, and Gold beat Kitchener in the semis to setup the Waterloo final. White ultimately won 6-0, but we are proud of both teams for showing out at the Championships.
We're so proud of all these teams, and all of our teams who qualified for the ALLIANCE Champions for competing hard and representing Waterloo well!
