CITY OF WATERLOO RECREATION SERVICES UPDATE
CITY OF WATERLOO – Recreation Services Update

Attention: Wolves Families

We were informed by the City of Waterloo last night of the new screening and entry policies they will be implementing, beginning tomorrow,
Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

Click HERE to read the City of Waterloo’s updated COVID Policies and Procedures.

We have tried to summarize the information for our Families to reference and know exactly what they must do, to prepare for attending City of Waterloo Facilities for practices and games – please see below.

As a Player, what do I need to do:

  • If you are 12 and under, you must screen yourself before coming to the rink – we will have a WMHA Screening Site rolled out shortly, but during tryouts and initial House League skates, please CLICK HERE to self-screen before attending a practice, team event or game.  Once you have completed the screening successfully, you will receive a green “checkmark”. Please be prepared to show City of Waterloo Staff at the entrance, this green check mark.
  • If you are 12 and over, ALLIANCE Hockey has mandated Players must provide Waterloo Minor Hockey with proof of your vaccination status or an ALLIANCE approved exemption. You can upload the proof via our website by clicking HERE.
  • THIS IS AN ALLIANCE HOCKEY POLICY – IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS POLICY, PLEASE CONTACT ALLIANCE MINOR HOCKEY (website: https://alliancehockey.com/)
  • You DO NOT have to show your Proof of Vaccination each and every time you go to the rink HOWEVER, you cannot continue to attend sanctioned team events nor will you be rostered to a Wolves Team without providing your Proof of Vaccination to the Office (using the online form, linked above)

As a Coach/Trainer/Manager or other volunteer, what do I need to do:

  • Please self-screen, PRIOR to arriving at the rink, by clicking HERE. Once you have completed the screening successfully, you will receive a green “checkmark”. Please be prepared to show City of Waterloo Staff at   the entrance, this green check mark.
  • PLEASE NOTE: YOU MAY HAVE TO SCREEN AGAIN, ONCE YOU GET TO THE RINK - WE ARE WORKING WITH THE CITY TO STREAMLINE THIS POLICY.
  • ALLIANCE Hockey has mandated you must provide Waterloo Minor Hockey with proof of your vaccination status or an ALLIANCE approved exemption. You can upload the proof via our website HERE.
  • THIS IS AN ALLIANCE HOCKEY POLICY – IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS POLICY, PLEASE CONTACT ALLIANCE MINOR HOCKEY (website:https://alliancehockey.com/)
  • Until WMHA has implemented our "proof of registration" system now mandated by the City, you will need to show the Arena Staff at the entrance, your Proof of Vaccination or Approved Medical Exemption, prior to entering the building, along with one piece of Government Issued Identification (ie, Drivers Licence or Health Card)
  • You cannot continue to attend sanctioned team events, nor will you be rostered to a Wolves Team without providing your Proof of Vaccination to the Office (using the online form, linked above)

As a Parent/GrandParent/Guardian/Spectator, who is coming to help or watch my Player, what do I need to do:

  • Please self-screen, using the following link, PRIOR to arriving at the rink: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/screening/customer/ - once you have completed the screening successfully, you will receive a green “checkmark”.
  • You will need to show the Arena Staff at the entrance, your Proof of Vaccination or Approved Medical Exemption, prior to entering the building, along with one piece of Government Issued Identification (ie, Drivers Licence or Health Card)
  • The proof can be provided digitally (on your mobile device) or using a paper copy – once the Provincial APP is available after October 22nd, you can use this to provide proof of vaccination.
  • You will need to provide your name and a phone number, for contact tracing purposes
  • THIS IS A PROVINCIAL POLICY – IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS POLICY, PLEASE REACH OUT TO YOUR LOCAL MEMBER OF PROVINCIAL PARLIAMENT (MPP)

These laws and policies are constantly changing, and we are doing our best to disseminate the information in a timely and clear manner.

Please reach out to the WMHA Hockey Office, should you require any clarification or need assistance in navigating the procedures above.

We know this is a challenging time for everyone – we thank you in advance for your patience and kindness to our WMHA Staff, our WMHA Volunteers and the City of Waterloo Staff Members.
