PHASE 2 END DATE: MARCH 28TH, 2021
A Special Meeting of WMHA’s Board of Directors was called on Monday, March 8th, 2021, to discuss the remaining months of the 2020-21 Season.
WMHA believes strongly in the mental and physical benefits that hockey provides to our young players, and, despite numerous Provincial lockdowns and restrictions, has remained unwaveringly committed to making hockey opportunities available for players at all ages, levels and abilities.
WMHA is proud of the fact that we have kept all of our Wolves players, no matter what age or skill level, on the ice safely and continuously since September 2020.
Our original goal, when we returned to the ice under the Red Level of the Provincial Framework in January 2021, was to provide programming until approximately April 18th.
However, after careful consideration of all options available to continue the season, the Board has decided that
March 28, 2021 will be the last day of WMHA Programming for all levels of hockey for the 2020-21 season.
This decision was not made lightly and was based on a number of contributing factors, including, without limitation, the inability to secure the necessary ice time due to arena facility closures, the ongoing uncertainty of the public health situation in Waterloo Region, the potential for loss of a critical mass of volunteer resources and officials and the potential for material financial loss.
LAST WEEK (MARCH 22-28) IS FREE!!!
As of March 2nd, players were expected to have paid two (2) installments of their Phase 2 Fees. These first two (2) installments covered all player costs until March 21, 2021. If you have not yet paid these installments, please do so prior to March 28th.
WMHA is pleased to announce that the last week of hockey (March 22-28) for ALL players will be offered
FREE OF CHARGE. NO FURTHER PAYMENT IS REQUIRED.
For any members who “prepaid” registration fees up until April 18th, please complete the following online form, to receive your credit. To access the form, click here.
Our Office will work through the return of these overpayments over the next few weeks and contact you once your transaction has been processed. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time.
Thank you to all our Families and Players for your patience and perseverance during this past season. A huge thanks as well to our hundreds of coaches and volunteers who have committed countless hours, effort and energy to making it possible for our kids to be able to continue to play the game they love and pursue their dreams!!
Our hope is to see everyone back at the rink, under familiar conditions in the Fall of 2021 - and maybe, just maybe, we will hear that familiar refrain reverberate again in our rinks:
“WATER, WATER, WATER, LOO, LOO, LOO!”
Stay safe and take care,
WMHA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
