WMHA Update on Potential Phase 2 Return to Play
Submitted By WMHA on Fri 02 05, 21
At this time, we are cautiously optimistic that the developments locally and overall in the Province will allow for us to resume play in some form later this month.

We believe strongly in the mental and physical benefits that hockey provides to our young players and are committed to trying to get players of ALL ages and abilities back on the ice as soon as it is safe to do so.

WMHA continues to work diligently with its governing bodies and the City of Waterloo to assess programming options and structures to ensure that we will be ready to get back on the ice if and when COVID lockdown restrictions are lifted.

Should next weeks’ news be positive for a safe return to play, our current plan is to commence an eight (8) week program for all ages at both the House League and Representative levels.  We are also in talks with our governing bodies on potential plans to provide our elite level U16 and U18 AAA players with the opportunity to compete in a meaningful manner to showcase their skills for upcoming OHL Priority Selection.

Once again, we truly appreciate the amazing level of support and patience from our players, coaches, volunteers and families as we continue to navigate through these difficult and unchartered waters.

We remain hopeful – and ready - to extend the season as long as we are able to do so.
