Region of Waterloo PHU - Red (Control) Level
The City of Waterloo has confirmed that the move to "RED", effective Monday, November 23, 2020 under Ontario's new COVID-19 Tiered Lockdown Framework WILL IMPACT our current hockey operations in Waterloo.

We do not expect to move to a less restrictive Zone for the remainder of Phase 1.

Phase 2 information and registration will be communicated in the New Year.

Effective Monday, November 23, 2020, Teams may continue to practice, however, NO game play or scrimmages will be permitted. Drills that are likely to result in individuals coming within 2m of each other are not permitted.

Teams will only be allowed to have a maximum of 9 players + 1 Coach on the ice per ice time. A Trainer will be present in the designated off-ice area to assist in the event of any issues.

For Rep teams, this means that coaches will be splitting rosters into "split-squads" of 8 skaters + 1 goalies.  For House League teams, players may be re-assigned to new teams in order to meet the 9-player per team maximum limit.

Please wait for an email from your Coach and/or Convenor, that will provide additional information - including, the upcoming schedule for your player.

Parents may accompany minor children into the arena and spectate in the designated off-ice area.

With the move to RED, WMHA would like to remind its members of the following:

  • MASKS must be worn at all times inside the arena (players & coaches may remove masks on-ice only)
  • PARENTS must remain in their designated off-ice area and maintain social distancing of 2m at all times
  • The COVID-SCREENING form must be completed by all participants prior to each ice time and checked by the coach

WMHA will continue to monitor the public health situation in Waterloo Region and will take additional measures, including cessation of hockey operations, as circumstances require.
