Friday Night Practice Update
To all U16 House League Families
The coaches and I have received feedback regarding the Friday night practices. Some kids just want to scrimmage while others still want to learn hockey skills and increase their puck touches through practicing and doing drills.
In an effort to maximize both attendance and happiness on Friday nights, we’ve decided to try to accommodate both extremes!
Starting Friday, February 7th, Friday night practices for all three teams will begin with a scrimmage at 8:30pm. The scrimmage will end at 9:20pm and, after the flood, a couple coaches will run a true practice until around 10:10pm.
Kids may choose to attend one or both sessions but we ask that anyone staying for the second session be ready to work hard doing the drills.
We also ask that goalies let me know via our goalie chat if they will not be at the scrimmage.
Our amazing coaches have worked out between them who will manage the practices vs who will be there for the scrimmages. They will not necessarily be there for both ice times so you may find that your son is learning from a different coach than usual on these evenings.
This is the first year that the WMHA has offered U16 practice ice times and I am grateful for your patience as we work to maximize attendance while at the same time keeping hockey fun and interesting for all the players.
