The
information below is meant to help guide you through the tryout process.
Please see the team calendar for tryout times and make sure your child is
registered. If you are not on the
registration list at the tryout date, you will not be permitted on the
ice. Contact the WMHA office if you are
not sure if you are registered.
The select level provides an opportunity for house league players to develop their skills through additional practices and exhibition games.
At the tryouts, we will be looking for energetic players who demonstrate effort, skating ability, and hockey sense. Our goal is to have fun while we develop their hockey skills as individual players and together as a team.
Within a few hours of each tryout, a list of players that will be invited back for the next session will be listed on the team website. If the player's name is not on the list, they have been released for the remainder of the tryouts and we wish them all the best with their house league season.
Our allotted time provided by the league is generally Sunday at 5pm at Albert McCormick. These are currently shown as practices on the team calendar but will be changed to games when arranged with other centers. Additional practices will be added to the calendar as ice times become available. Generally these will be weekdays at 6:30 am or 5:00 pm.
We plan to schedule approximately 16 exhibition games and attend 3 tournaments including the season ending Alliance Select Tournament in Brantford April 5-8, 2018.
We will be selecting 2 goalies, 15 skaters, and 2-3 alternate players. The alternates will be invited to all the practices and will be able to replace rostered players who are unavailable to attend games. Once the team has been selected, there will be a parent meeting outlining the plan for the season.
