The Waterloo Wolves White Bantam MD team continued their "Cinderella story" season winning the Alliance East/Central MD Tier 1 Championship over their arch nemesis Hamilton Huskies Red.
The Wolves paved the way to the play-downs by coming first place in the play-off round. Entering the play-downs as the first seed, the Wolves faced off against a fast and gritty Burlington Bulldogs team. The Wolves swept the play-down semi-final winning 1-0 and 5-2. With Hamilton Huskies Red winning their play-down semi final, the highly anticipated finals match-up was set.
The Wolves came out unexpectedly flying despite the late start (9:45PM), defeating Hamilton, 3-0 in the first game of the finals. The Wolves headed to Hamilton for game 2 looking for a win to seal the Championship. After 40 minutes of play, the Waterloo Wolves came out on top once again defeating Hamilton 2-1 in a tight checking defensive battle.
The Wolves, already with 4 tournament championships this season, will be looking to win the biggest prize --- the Alliance Championship in London, April 13-15.
Congratulations players and coaches!!
