Wayne Gretzky International Tournament
Over the Christmas Break, the Novice MD White Wolves competed in the Wayne Gretzky International Tournament.  They improved on their last tournament performance by advancing to the Quarter Finals.
They also had an awesome time at Wacky Wings, loading up on carbs and rocking the Arcade!!!
There was also a few sightings of the most famous father in Canada......Walter Gretzky!

The Wolves began the tournament against the Cambridge Hawks.  It was quite the back and forth affair with a lot of offense and not so much defense.  Cambridge narrowly won the game 6-5.  Goal scorers in the game were Derek, Caleb, Mitchell and Ethan, who scored 2.
With the team behind the 8-Ball after their first game, they really needed to pull out a win in Game #2.  Once again, it was all offense from both the Sarnia Jr Sting and the Wolves.  This game was an opportunity for Ethan to really showcase his offensive skill.  The Wolves hung on for a 7-6 win with Ethan potting 4 Goals!!!  Each time the Sting got close, Ethan helped the team pull away. Rounding out the scoring were Derek, Caleb and Mitchell.
Game 3 turned out to be a real stinker!!  On Day 2, North London came to play and unfortunately the boys came out flat and were hammered 5-0! However, if it weren't for some amazing stops by Griffen in the first half of the game, it could have been even worse!
It was 'do or die' for the Wolves in Game 4.  A win moved them to the Quarter-Finals and loss would send them packing.  Fortunately, they played one of their best games of the season!!  It was a total team effort and for the first time all season, they shut-out their opponents!!  By defeating the Oakridge Aeros 3-0, they moved on to the Quarter-Finals!  The shut-out was shared by Sam and Griffen.  Goal scorers were Priyen, Peyton, and Ethan (Again!).
Unfortunately, they ran into a far superior, and undefeated, team from Simcoe. Regardless of the score, they played a complete game, didn't take a shift off and never gave up!!
Once again, the coaching staff is extremely proud of the team.  They worked really hard and represented Waterloo with pride!!
Along with awarding the Super Wolf, there was an MVP for each game.  Congratulations to Super Wolves Ethan, Sam, Griffen, Michael, & Nicholas.  MVP Award winners were Ethan, Griffen, Evin, Peyton, & Michael.
Top Scorers for the tournament were: Ethan with 9 points & Caleb, Michael and Peyton with 4 points each!!
