Weekend Wrap-Up Mar. 13,15
Last weekend the Wolves finished their playoff round robin with a loss to both Hamilton Blue and Hamilton White.

The team traveled to Hamilton on Friday to face Hamilton White.  After slow starts in consecutive games, the Wolves looked to begin a game on the offensive.  They were able to have a couple of quality shifts to begin the game, but things quickly changed.  The Wolves found themselves in penalty trouble to end the first period, taking three minor penalties.  The Huskies would make them pay, scoring on the poweplay to take a 1-0 lead.

To begin the second, the Wolves were given a powerplay opportunity of their own.  The team was able to maintain pressure in the offensive zone, and with time on the powerplay winding down, the Wolves were able to score to tie the game.  However, following the goal, the Wolves once again found themselves in penalty trouble.  They took three more minor penalties in the period, and Hamilton would take advantage.  The Huskies were able to score another powerplay goal, along with one at even strength to take a 3-1 lead into the third period.

To begin the third, the Huskies were once again on the powerplay.  They were able to score their third powerplay goal of the game less than a minute into the period to take a commanding three goal lead.  Following the goal, the Wolves finally found some life.  They were able to spend much more time in Hamilton’s zone, which resulted in powerplay opportunities of their own.  The Wolves were able to feed off of the momentum, and scored two goals just over twenty seconds apart to bring the team within one.  The team continued to push for the remaining eight minutes.  After they were not able to capitalize on any of their chances, the team’s goaltender was pulled for the final minute of play.  However, the Wolves could not tie the game, which ended with a final of 4-3.

After losing a close game to Hamilton White, the Wolves were set to face Hamilton Blue on Sunday.  Once again, the team looked to get out to a quick start.  However, they were in tough against first place Hamilton Blue.  Both teams play well through the first period, which ended in a 0-0 tie.

To begin the second period, the team found themselves in a familiar position, penalty trouble.  The Wolves would take four minor penalties in the period, and Blue would take advantage, scoring one goal on the powerplay and one even strength.  With the period winding down, the Wolves were able to keep the game close, scoring to make the score 2-1.

Heading into the third the Wolves looked to continue to push to tie the game, however they once again found themselves filling the penalty box.  The team would take six minor penalties in the final period, giving Hamilton a significant amount of time on the powerplay.  The Huskies took advantage scoring four third period goals to make the final 6-1.

The Wolves have now lost three games in a row for the first time all season.  However, they will look to get back to playing their style of hockey to begin playdowns.  After finishing the round robin, they look forward to a series against Hamilton White.  Game one is on the road Thursday at 7:15, while game two is at home Friday at 8:30.
