Atom Ice Wolves Playoffs going really well, with a 2-1-1 record so far.
The Ice Wolves are playing some great
hockey, and showcasing excellent teamwork at all positions,
including goaltending!
Saturday Feb 1, the Ice
Wolves took on Brantford in Waterloo for the first game of the playoffs. As they did all season, both teams worked hard for puck possession to take the win from one another. However this time it ended in a stalemate 2-2 tie.
Sunday Feb 2, the Ice Wolves traveled to Hamilton to play
Hamilton Blue, winning 3-2. Hamilton scored first, but Ice
Wolves responded quickly in the first period with two goals. Teamwork and
passing was the Wolves method to keep the lead on Hamilton, and resulted in a great
goal in the third period to win the game!
Saturday Feb 14 the Ice Wolves played the Timber Wolves, winning this round 3-1. This ‘Battle of Waterloo’ had plenty of spectators, who were treated to a fantastic game of hockey! The Ice Wolves maintained possession for much of the game, keeping the Timber Wolves' goalie busy. The Ice Wolves had some wonderful passing for the first goal, and took advantage of a turnover for the second goal. The third goal was a combination of speed and teamwork. Some key saves by Ice Wolves' goaltending to maintain our lead in the third, and preserve the win.
Sunday Feb 15 the Ice Wolves traveled to Brantford, but lost 0-1. This was another exciting game of hockey for the Ice Wolves. Brantford was a formidable team, using a bit more ‘force’ than was necessary at times, but a very assertive team. Great goaltending on both sides kept this game to no score until the last minute of the second period. The Ice Wolves had plenty of attempts on the Brantford net, but their goalie was simply having a fantastic game.
A great start to the playoffs and good effort by the Ice Wolves. Keep it up boys!
