In the final game of the round robin play, the Wolves faced off against the Ajax Knights, another AE team! It seems that the Waterloo Wolves Atom Select was the only Select team in the tournament! It was a hard game to watch that saw both teams penalized, and Waterloo try to fight off two 5 on 3 opportunities.
Cole M. played for the entire game following Luke's injury on Friday. Ajax opened the scoring in the first with a regular strength goal. Waterloo followed up with a short-handed goal scored by Michael T. Before the end of the period,
Ajax scored again to take the score to 2-1. The boys kept playing hard through the penalties to end out the first.
Ajax was able to score on their next power play in the second period bringing the score up 3-1 in their favour. Waterloo followed with a goal by Simon D to change the score to 3-2! Ajax once again scored on a power play to pull ahead 4-2. Trevor C. let one rip from the blue line to close in on Ajax with a score of 4-3.
The third period saw more penalties for Waterloo. The Wolves were able to tie the game with a goal by Aidan A for a score of 4-4. The period saw another 5 on 5 goal by Ajax to bring them ahead by a goal. As time ran down on the clock, Cole M. was pulled and with mere seconds remaining, Ajax scored on an empty net for a final score of 6-4.
