December 11th- Waterloo vs Kitchener at Activa Sport complex
On this full moon evening we were treated to the twin city rivals playing for the first time, at the lovely Activa complex. Nervous spectators, coaches and players alike as rumour had it that Kitchener had done very well against Guelph in an earlier game. Perhaps you will recall our experience with Guelph?!? There was lots of action in the first period, unfortunately mostly for Kitchener, in our end of the rink. However superb goal tending and a determined defense kept us in the clear. Finally in the second period on a power play lasting 16 seconds, Colin F succeeded in scoring assisted by Dawson F. A huge lift for the team! Kitchener was human after all. Waterloo goal number two came from Tristan S, assisted by Xavier L. Kitchener had many attempts to score but struggled to make anything register, the bounce had gone out of their bungee. Finally goal number three came from Josh T giving everyone that bit of breathing space. Our first shutout for both goalies! Congratulations Liam and Christopher. The final countdown from our players on the bench illustrated the team’s excitement. Well done boys.
