Saturday Nov 26, 2011 - Guelph Jr. Storm vs Waterloo Wolves at AMCE
Sunday Nov 27, 2011 - Waterloo Wolves vs Georgetown Raiders at Georgetown Memorial Arena

Saturday November 26, 2011

The  Wolves met the Guelph Storm on Saturday night at AMCE.  Our first home game! The stands full of excitement and lots of supporters in the stands. Unfortunately, Guelph scored early in the game and kept on going! Goals for the Wolves were scored by Tristan S. and Colin F. An unsettling night but despite the goal differential, the team fought back and held their own to the end. A few more shifts and we might have had ‘em! Looking forward to the rematch. Hopefully a few lessons learned both technically and on sportsmanship overall. Best call of the night was not from the refs but from a dads “offside” notice from the stands.

Final score 10-2 for Guelph.

The recipient of the MVP bucket tonight was Tristan S. Congratulations Tristan!

Sunday November 27, 201

Another road trip: this time to the Georgetown Memorial arena. An interesting drive with a accident delaying traffic on the 401. Thankfully everyone arrived safely and on time. Georgetown has an old, interesting barn, with vintage seating and the diminutive dressing room was packed to capacity with players, coaches, and skate-tying parents. Under romantic (dim) lighting Georgetown scored early in the game giving the players and fans some nervous moments hoping this wasn’t going to be a déjà vu of the night before. The team, full of energy rallied back with goals by Tristan S. and shortly thereafter Dawson F.  Then Colin F asst. by Dawson F. put the Wolves into the lead, shocking the Georgetown crowd. In desperation Georgetown pulled their goalie and managed to squeak out a goal in the last 18 seconds of the game, tying 3-3 to a huge roar of relief from the hometown crowd. Overall the players should be proud of the intensity of their efforts, their speed and fair play. Tremendous goal tending efforts go to both Chris and Liam backed by the stellar defensive play of Ryan, Johnnie, Bryce, Braden, Matt and Zack. Numerous concerns could be cited with the referring calls but once again our players should be commended for their fair play and sportsmanlike conduct. Other notables include our first on ice appearance of our trainer Jody in response to an incident with one of the players. Thankfully no further attention was required.  We hope everyone returned home safely – a challenging drive with the rain and volume of traffic.

Final score 3-3

The recipient of the MVP bucket tonight was Matt M. Congratulations Matt!

From the stands, special recognition goes to:
