(by Greg Brown) The
Waterloo Ice Wolves travelled to Burlington to take on the Bulldogs on November 19.
The Ice Wolves applied plenty of pressure throughout the game, but an outstanding Burlington goaltender stifled our offense on many shots.
Burlington went up 2-0 early in the second period, but Waterloo finally got on the board with a goal by Cooper Way late in the second, assisted by Hunter Baird and Ryan Hanson. The third period saw the Bulldogs retain their two goal lead quickly, but Kyle Maloney broke away and scored unassisted with six minutes left in the game to keep it close.
The Ice Wolves threw everything they could at the Burlington goaltender, but in the end it resulted in a close loss. Mischa Stastna had a great game in goal for the Ice Wolves, keeping them in the game to give the offense a chance. Left winger Easton Schnarr played a very strong game offensively and defensively, as he had multiple chances in front of the net, and back skated to break up the opposition. Also having strong games offensively were Ryan Hanson and Jonathan Dinner. Defensively, the Wolves had a strong showing from Evan Howe, Aidan Coffin and Connor Rowell.
Good luck to the Ice Wolves in the upcoming games.
