Recreational Hockey Christmas Tournament Rules

Novice to Midget Divisions

 

 

  1. WMHA rules for Recreational Hockey will be followed.

 

  1. Maximum warm up to 3 minutes from the time the ice is ready. All players should be ready 15 minutes ahead of scheduled times as games may start early.

 

  1. Teams advance according to points total (2 points for a win and 1 point for a tie).

 

  1. Time for preliminary games for all divisions are to be 10 – 10 – 10. Playoff games are   10 – 10 – 15. Curfews will be at the discretion of the Tournament Committee, however, when there is a six (6) goal difference, straight time will be used after the mid-point in the game.

 

  1. When teams are tied for advancement to semi-final games, the following will be used to determine their standing. (Alliance rule 5.7A for 2 teams and 5.7B for 3 or more teams will apply)

 

·         (A1)  The team with the most wins of the games between the two tied teams in regular play gains the higher position.

 

·         (A2)  The team with the most wins in regular play gains the higher position.

 

·         (A3)  If the two (2) teams are still tied after A1 and A2 have been applied, then the team with the best goal average gains the higher position.  The goal average of a team is to be determined in the following manner. Total number of goals for divided by the total number of goals (for plus against).


 

6.    For play-off and championship games tied at the end of regulation time, there will be  5 minutes of 4 on 4 stop time sudden victory overtime period. If still tied a shootout will occur, the coaches will submit three names to the referee prior to the shootout beginning. If still tied a sudden death shoot out will follow. All players must go once before a player can go a second time. If a  shoot out is required one player from the  home team will shoot first then one from the  visitor team switching between home and visitor until one team wins.

 

7.    A team not icing 6 players for any game loses by default. The score will be recorded as 3-0.

 

8.    Games will not be held up for lack of equipment for players.

 


9.  
Any player incurring a fighting penalty will be ejected from the tournament. Any suspensions will be served during regular season play.

 

10. The tournament committee reserves the right to make decisions regarding interpretation of tournament rules and regulations and to make decisions regarding protest(s). All decisions are final.
