(Minimum of 8 teams required for each division.)  Divisions will be split into groups of about four (4) teams for the preliminary round.  Winners will then advance to the play-off round in which the loser of each game will be eliminated.  All teams are guaranteed three (3) games.  The maximum number of games for any team is six (6).

PRELIMINARY ROUND
Two points are given for each win, and one for each tie.

GAME TIMES
All games in both rounds will be:

10 - 10 - 15 stop time. There will be no overtime in the preliminary round.  Overtime will be played, if needed, in all Play-off Round games, and will be sudden victory.

TEAM COLOURS
Teams are asked to bring two sets of sweaters - one dark and one light.  The home team designated will wear the dark colour.  In the event of conflicting colours, the home team designed will be responsible for changing sweaters.

All teams must report to the arena one-hour before game time and sign in. Excessive lateness without a legitimate excuse will forfeit the game to the opposing team. Scheduled game times are approximate. Teams must be prepared to start up to 15 minutes before scheduled game time.

Spectators are not allowed in the change area or dressing rooms. It is the duty of the team manager to respect this rule at all times. Dressing room locations will be given to the Team Manager upon arrival at the arena.

EQUIPMENT
Approved neck protectors are mandatory for all participants.

GAME LENGTHS

All games are 10-10-15 stop time, subject to the Mercy Rule and Overtime provisions.

MERCY RULE
When there is a five (5) goal differential in third period the clock will change to running time and does NOT revert back to stop time. Minor penalties will be 3:00 and major penalties 7:30 during running time.

OVERTIME and SHOOTOUTS

For elimination and quarter-final games, there will be one (1) period of five (5) minutes of four-on-four (4 on 4) sudden victory play.  The teams may substitute players freely during the overtime.  If the game is not decided after the overtime period, a 3 player shootout will occur. Each pair of shooters will start simultaneously.  The team that scores the most goals during the 3 player shootout advances.  If the teams are still tied then a sudden victory shootout occurs until one team has scored one more goal than the other team. A player may not shoot again until all players, excluding goalies, have shot in the shootout.

For semi-final games, there will be one (1) period of ten (10) minutes of four-on-four (4 on 4) sudden victory play.

TIE BREAKING FORMULA

In the event that teams are tied in points for a play-off or wild card position after round robin play, the following procedure will apply:

The head-to-head result involving the teams tied (two way ties only).

The best ratio of "Goals For/Goals For + Goals Against" in all round robin games.

The team with the least goals against.

The team with the most goals scored.

The team that scored the first goal in the head-to-head game.

The team with the lowest number of penalty minutes.

A toss of a coin by the tournament chairman.

POST-ROUND ROBIN REMATCHES
If a scheduled elimination, quarter-final or semi-final game is between teams that met in the round robin, the tournament committee will change opponents in an effort to ensure that teams do not meet twice before the finals.  The lower ranked team will be moved down 1 position unless it is the last team in the standings in which case the team will move up 1 position.  If this still does not resolve the issue of teams meeting twice, the original standings will take precedent.  The committee reserves the right to place teams as they see fit to prevent teams playing a second time in the first elimination game.
