The U11 Team has drafted an 8-year-old boy named Abdul.
He was born in Uganda with two clubfeet and has never received treatment so he walks on
the sides and tops of his feet. This means he can't participate in many
activities of kids his age. It limits him from going to school because
it's too far to walk and it gets painful. We would love to see him
walking on the bottoms of his feet with our team's help.
The prevalence of clubfeet in Uganda
is the same as it is in Canada (1:1000). The difference is we have a
health care system that puts babies through castings and braces so that their
feet are corrected before they begin walking. In Uganda, this
doesn't happen and families do not have the money to pay for treatment.
In an effort to support Abdul, the players on the U11 AA Wolves team will raise money by doing chores and working to raise money to put towards Abdul's medical needs.
He'll need to go through the
following treatment:
- pre
operation castings (to stretch the feet)
- surgery to correct foot position
- post
op castings (as feet heal)
- braces (to support while walking)
Amazing support Wolves!!
