Wolves Reach the Top
Clearly the Waterloo wolves do not share well. Please excuse their manners.

The wolves used a 3 to 1 win over the Hamilton huskies as a spring board into sole position of first overall.

It took them a lot longer than they thought but the lessons learnt en route will prepare them for playoffs. Some say adversity builds character, but I believe adversity reveals character. And these young men have character in spades.

Jacob Reid-Brant got the ball rolling with a beautiful goal from Jake Patterson and then Patterson and Cole Ledgister picked up assists on Griffin Beddis’ goal. Caleb Cumming sealed the deal for the Wolves from Reid-Brant.

The wolves came out hitting with Ryan Beckner laying a huge hit to get things started. Yianni Peppas followed it up with another massive hit. Then Tate Merritt, who just returned to action, tossed several big hits as well.

The Wolves defenders did a great job all game getting sticks in lanes and controlling the play. Carson Bernhardt, Connor Palmer and Cullen Derry all were wheeling and controlling the play. Tyler O’Hearn was instrumental helping the defenders down low as well.

Late in the game Cole Hunsberger, Matthew Ball and Declan Uniac cycled the puck for a long stretch that deflated the Huskies and created several scoring opportunities. The trio had yet another strong game.

The players awarded Ben Pendleton with the player of the game honours and it was well deserved. Pendleton made critical saves when his team was shorthanded and a brilliant stop to rob the Huskies on a two on one play.

With 5 straight wins and winners of 9 of their last 10 games, the Wolves appear to be clicking at the right time. The team will need to remain focused as they push towards playoffs and attempt to clinch first place.

Go wolves!
