Exhibition Games Against Brantford
With five players new to rep hockey and a handful of other new faces on the roster, it was difficult to predict how the 2019-20 edition of your MD Wolves would start this year.
The boys didn't disappoint as they played two decent games against a gritty and chippy Brantford 99ers team. Your Wolves showed a lot of heart and grit of their own and certainly weren't lacking competitiveness and energy. Goalies Matti H and Carder O were stalwarts in the crease and made sure to shut down any potential chances for the opponents to get a momentum swing. Congratulations to Elliot S, Keon W and Andy R for getting their first points in MD hockey! A shout-out to our hard-working D core for limiting the chances of the crafty 99ers forwards trying to cycle down low and sneak to the net from the half-boards and corners. The forwards did well Friday night to contribute to the dominant shot total by Waterloo. I'd be remiss to not acknowledge Merv's sneaky pass to Ty O, Ozzy's sick snipe, Mason's dominant two near-breakaways shift, Drew M's howitzer and Rudy's torrid goal-a-game pace (can he get 50 in 38?!). A good start and the boys have shown the coaches that we have a solid base to build on.
