Minor Atoms Win in Oshawa
The Waterloo Wolves Minor Atom A team are champions of the Oshawa Hockeyfest Tournament!
This past weekend the Wolves traveled to Oshawa to compete in the Oshawa Hockeyfest Tournament with high hopes and expectations. With 2 tournament finals under their belts previously, the boys determined that this time, Silver just wasn't going to cut it! The team was first after the round robin at 3-0, moving into the semi's on Sunday morning. A very solid effort resulted in a 5-0 win over Kanata and would send the Wolves to the finals against a very strong Whitby team. The final game was a very tense affair with both teams scoring a goal on a penalty shot but in the end, a terrific effort by the entire team resulted in a very hard fought 4-3 victory. Gold is much sweeter than Silver!
Every player can be proud of his contribution to the weekend's success. 5-0, with only 7 goals surrendered and 19 goals scored is a recipe for continued success as the team moves on in its season.
Next up is Barrie in early January as the boys are going to test themselves against AA competition where their obvious desire to compete as a group will serve them well.
