MD Challenge Cup Champions
The Wolves faced off against the Burlington Bulldogs Red in the championship of the Burlington MD Challenge Cup.

Although the Wolves put forth some great teamwork and effort for the first two periods they found themselves down 2-0.

The Wolves continued to skate hard and their persistence paid off with their first goal around 6 minutes into the third period.  With 3 minutes left, despite a lot of shots and offensive pressure on the Bulldog's goalie, the Wolves were still looking for the tying goal.  Seconds later, the Wolves were sent to the box for tripping.  With the odds against them, the Wolves showed their "never give up attitudes" and responded with a short handed goal to tie the game at 2.  The Wolves were able to kill off the remainder of their penalty and continued to pressure the Bulldogs. The result was the Bulldogs taking a penalty with only a few seconds left in regulation time.

The over time format was set to be 1 minute of 4 on 4, 1 minute of 3 on 3, 1 minute of 2 on 2, then a shoot out (if necessary).  Since the Bulldogs were in the penalty box heading into the overtime, the remaining time on the penalty was divided by 2 and the Wolves played with a power play for the first 53 seconds of OT.

During the OT the Bulldogs took another penalty which was awarded as a penalty shot in the over time format.  Unfortunately the Wolves weren't able to score on the penalty shot or the powerplay.  The game continued with the 3 on 3 and 2 on 2.  Despite some great scoring chances at both ends of the ice, the game remained tied and we headed into a shootout.

The first shooters for each team were denied by the goalies.  Waterloo's second shooter was successful, while the Bulldogs were still looking for a shootout goal.  Both of the third shooters were able to score, but it wasn't enough for the Bulldogs and the Wolves erupted into a well deserved, on-ice celebration!

Congratulations Wolves!  You worked hard for the entire tournament, showed some of the best team work of the season and overcame some tough odds to earn a championship!  Be very proud of your accomplishment!  Your parents and coaches certainly are.
