MD - Minor Peewee Black Even the Series 1 - 1
Emergency crews were summoned to the Waterloo Rec Centre when all 17,500 fans erupted as Waterloo tamed their opponents 4 - 0 in game two of the playoff series.

There was no stopping Waterloo as they brought their AAA game to the arena this afternoon. St. Catharines could barely muster enough speed to breach the Waterloo zone. The boys ensured the play stayed in St. Catharines zone throughout the game. When their opponents got to the neutral zone, Waterloo forced the turnover and powered their way back up the ice.

The boys opened up the scoring early in the first when Day and Willson caused the first of many turnovers in the neutral zone allowing Waterloo's Michael Wei to glide in the offensive zone. Michael caught the netminder going the wrong way as his puck pounded the back of the net.

If you missed the "Hockey Night in Waterloo" by Ron and Don during the intermission, they are quoted as saying "the first period was like watching a Renoir masterpiece being painted. The boys moved the puck over the ice canvas with style, grace and ease. Hockey scouts from all over the area were watching. Former Minor Peewee alumni, Jude Hawthorne, was also in attendance. Drake opened the game singing the National anthem.

Nathan Edwards picked up the first of his two goals on the day as he welcomed the pass from Luke Young and Riley Waters. Nathan skated through the front of the net and backhanded the puck over a sprawling St. Catharines goalie.

In the third period, Waterloo put the game to bed as Luke Young and Nathan Edwards scored to make it 4 - 0. The defense took it from there as they played keep away from St. Catharines. Cole Matthews earned the shutout doing his best Gandalf the Grey as "no puck shall pass" while he stood tall in net. That was Cole's 23 shutout of the season.

Well done boys, well done.
