MD - Minor Peewee Black vs Burlington Bulldogs Red
There could have been rust on their skates as the team had not played a league game since November 11. Waterloo rose to the occasion defeating the Burlington Bulldogs Red 4 - 1.

The talk around the rink was one of uncertainty as a lengthy layoff could have gone poorly. The boys quickly erased any doubt and that they hadn't skipped a beat. Easton Oberholtzer rambled up the ice with the puck on his stick. He chipped it around the back of the net before he picked it up again and nudged it to Riley Waters in front of Burlington's net. Less than two minutes later Hunter McMurdo sent Matthew Thomas in past the defender giving the team a 2 - 0 lead.

In the second period, the boys worked hard to keep the play deep in Burlington's zone. Austin Zappitelli came up with a spectacular glove save as the puck tried to go low just over his pads. The defense blocked most of the shots towards the net keeping the game at 2 - 0 after two.

Burlington got one back on a power play marker soon into the third. That goal sealed the fate for Burlington as Luke Young assisted on a low wrist shot from Ethan Day to put the boys up two goals once again. Then 50 seconds later, Michael Wei worked the give an go with Riley Waters that found Michael wide open on the far side to jam the puck into the net.

Good game boys, welcome back.
