Wolves Get Gold
The Wolves defeated Burlington Bulldogs (Red) to take the MD Challenge Cup.
The Bulldogs (Red) advanced to the championship game against our Wolves after a win in the semi-final match up on Sunday morning.
The Wolves were looking forward to another chance to play the Bulldogs after losing twice this season, including a loss the previous day in round robin action.
As the players arrived at the rink, it was obvious they were pumped up and ready to go.
The Wolves scored first to take the lead, but the Bulldogs quickly responded to tie up the game.
In the second period, some hard work and great passing resulted in another goal for the Waterloo team. At the end of two periods, the Wolves were up 2-1.
The third period started with a questionable penalty shot call on a trip. A good shot by the Bulldogs player tied up the game at 2. The Wolves quickly responded with a goal to regain the lead. Some great goaltending and defensive back checking shut down the Bulldogs and the Wolves claimed the championship with a 3-2 win.
Congratulations Wolves! Your great passing, hard skating and all around team effort earned you the gold medal.
