Major Atom AAA Hamilton Jr Bulldog Champions
The Waterloo Wolves Major Atom AAA won the Hamilton Jr Bulldogs Backspin Classic over the weekend with a 6-3 win against the Quinte Red Devils in the championship final.
Waterloo started the tournament with a tie against the Burlington Eagles. A 2-0 lead going into the third saw Burlington come back to tie it up. Alliance rivals Huron-Perth were up next. Waterloo was strong throughout winning 6-3.
Saturday saw Waterloo take on the Quinte Red Devils in what would be a preview of the final. An excellent game by the boys with 6 different players scoring in a dominating 6-1 win for the Wolves. Grey-Bruce Highlanders were game #4 and after a slow start, Waterloo poured it on in the second half of the game winning 8-3.
Sundays semi-final against Guelph was a tight match until midway through when Waterloo took over and beat the Gryphons 5-2.
In the championship final, Waterloo held Quinte early and then broke it open with a 6-3 win.
