Novice MD White Tryout Information
Hello players and parents:
Tryouts for the Novice MD Black & White teams will take place jointly on: 

Tuesday Sept. 13th from 5:30pm - 7pm @ RIM Park (Optimist)

Wednesday Sept. 14th from 5pm - 6:30pm @ Rim Park (Pillers) 

Thursday Sept. 15th from 7pm - 8:30pm @ Rim Park (Optimist) 

*It is expected that you will arrive at least 45 minutes before each ice time to allow for registration and pinney assignment. PLEASE NOTE YOUR PLAYER’S PINNEY NUMBER AND COLOUR


Assessment/Evaluation:
Players will be assessed on: 

- Skating ability; forward & backward skating, crossovers, tight turns, and stops & starts
- Puck-handling ability; skating with the puck, stick-handling, taking and making passes
- Attention to detail; readiness to perform drills properly 

Players will be evaluated according to: 
- Coach-ability, work ethic, attitude, team hockey sense, creativity, and discipline

Releases:

-Your Novice MD Coaching Staff appreciate how stressful the try-out and release process can be for players and parents. Please be mindful of how difficult this task is for the evaluation staff when selecting the final teams.

-After the first ice-time, the pinney numbers of those players who have been selected to continue will be posted on the Novice MD Black and White web pages on the WMHA hockey site. The same process will be followed after the second ice-time.

-After the third ice-time releases will be done in person at RIM Park with coaches from each team.


Costs:
In addition to the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association registration fees and MD try-out fees you have already paid, each player can expect to pay Rep fees of $540.00 to WMHA as well as up to $800.00 for each player towards the team budget and additional for hotel stays associated with your team’s tournaments. Team budgets and tournament/hotel details will be shared at initial parent meetings for each team.
