Wolves Shine In Nations Cup
On November 24th the Wolves headed down to Detroit for the Nations Cup.

The Wolves were energized and looking to have a strong showing in the Tournament representing Canada. The first game of the Tournament was against the USA Patriots. The Wolves came out strong and looked like a veteran team with great communication and puck movement. After a long 42 minute game the Wolves came out on top 5-1 giving Canada 2 points in the division.

The second game was a battle of the Wolves playing against the Ann Arbor Wolves. This game was a physical battle both ways with big hits and several skirmishes. Waterloo got into some penalty trouble but was able to kill off all of them with hard work and team play. The Wolves finished the game with a score 2-0 showing Ann Arbor who the superior Wolves were and giving Canada 4 points for the day.

The next day on Saturday was an early one at 8:10AM. The Wolves were facing off against the Steel City Renegades who had shown some success earlier in the Tournament. The Wolves came out flat and were  given a wake up call with an early goal against. After the 1st period the Wolves found some energy with a goal of their own tying the game at 1. Shortly after Steel City responded with another goal putting the Wolves behind 2-1. With some teamwork and offensive play the Wolves rallied back to get the next 3 goals putting them ahead 4-2 at the end of the game. This gave the Wolves a 3-0 record and 6 points for Canada.

The fourth round robin game was against the Gross Ile Ilanders. The Wolves were looking for a big win to give them an early start for the final game on Sunday. The team came out with all guns firing and finished the game with a 10-2 win. 6 goals were scored in the first period showing some strong offensive chemistry and team play.

After the game the Wolves headed out to the Detroit Red Wings vs Montreal Game. Several players got to give the players high fives in the tunnel before warm ups. The Wolves wore their Canada jerseys to the game showing their pride for their country. The game went to 3 on 3 overtime where Montreal stole the game from Detroit 2-1 after being out shot 33 - 25.

On Sunday the Wolves were back to business with the final game against the Ann Arbor Wolves. After a close game on Saturday the Wolves knew they would need to be disciplined and come out hard to guarantee the victory. Before the game the Sarnia Jr. Sting were on the ice and the Wolves started a "Lets go Canada" cheer on the glass giving Sarnia a boost of energy. They responded by banging all their sticks on the boards in respect.

The Wolves started the game with a Power Play since Canada won the Round Robin play in the division. The Wolves capitalized on this advantage and gained the early lead. The team was on point with great puck movement, team play, discipline and hard skating both ways. The team ended the game with an 8-2 victory sealing the victory for the Wolves and Canada. The team finished the weekend 5-0 and showed the Americans that we are the best Hockey Nation in the world.
