October 1 vs. London Jr. Mustangs Purple
On Saturday, October 1, the '03 Wolves traveled to Medway
Arena to take on the Jr. Mustangs. The boys took the ice immediately after the '04
Wolves’ big win and the fans were excited, hoping for the same success.
At 8:07 in the first, the Mustangs made it 1-0 and woke up the Wolves. Shortly after, the Wolves evened the score at 5:14 before the Wolves headed to the power play. The teams traded penalties back and forth throughout the first period, showing that this would not be an easy game.
The second period opened at 1-1 and the Wolves goalie stopped everything that came his way. On a shorthanded breakaway opportunity, the Wolves made it 2-1 at 5:30. The Wolves struck again on the power play with some great teamwork and found the back of the net with a great one-timer at 3:15 in the second. The Wolves made it a quick 4-1 as the crowd went wild. London responded with 53 seconds left in the second, closing out the period at 4-2.
The Wolves began the third period on a power play and seemed to be having lots of fun out there. The Wolves D solidified the win on an end-to-end rush, finishing with a big clapper. The Wolves continued to play strong and hungry, keeping the pressure on right until the end.
Even the thunderstorm on the drive home couldn’t dampen their spirits!
